The Bulls lost to the Heat 97-93 in Miami. ‘Bron had 35 and 11 and Rose had 34 in the loss. They both missed free throws at the end.

The Celtics, no strangers to improbable comebacks, lost a game they were leading, 88-87 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Boston. The Cavaliers went on a 12-0 run to close out the game and get the win. Kyric Irving had the winning lay-up. He had 23 for the game.

The Toronto Raptors didn’t break much of a sweat defeating the New Jersey Nets 94-73 in New Jersey. Question to a reader: do they still have the Russian guy doing the announcing in Newark?

Danny Granger dropped 24 for the Indiana Pacers as they handed the Magic their third straight loss this season 106-85 IN ORLANDO. Dwight watchers will be pissing themselves to report the newest rumor in the Dwight sweepstakes this week.

The Dallas Mavericks built a nice lead, but then lost it to the Spurs during a long run in the second half that forced overtime. Jason Terry, who finished with 34 points, took over in th extra period and Daniel Green missed a 3-pointer for Dallas to win it at the buzzer in OT.

The Atlanta Hawks blew out the New Orleans Hornets 94-72 IN New Orleans. Atlanta does a really good job beating teams they’re supposed to beat, and in the case of last year’s opening round of the playoffs, they can suprise teams as well. But, yuh know, Joe Johnson.

Kobe Bryant and the Lakers got only their second win of the season away from the cozy confines of the Staples Center, 106-101 over the NBA’s new fun team to watch: the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Love was his usual monster self: 33 points and 13 rebounds, but Kobe was just enough more last night: 35 points (5-9 3pt) 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a partridge in a pear tree. Gasol had 28 and Bynum 21. Ricky Rubio’s stat line would have been good in half the time he played: 42 minutes.

Chauncey Billups, in his first Denver game since he bounced to NYC (he grew up in Denver), dropped 32 points and CP3 added 25 points and 7 assists as the Clippers beat the Nuggets, 109-105, in the thin Denver Air of the Pepsi Center in Boulder. DeAndre Jordan had 5 blocks and 13 boards. Griffin had 13 boards and only 17 points. Philly-esque all-around offensive effort from Denver with 3 starters and 2 bench players in double digits for points.

That is an championship contending roster. But of course the last couple of years the blazers have been in injury trouble so hopefully the blazers can be relatively healthy. How far the blazers get in the playoffs will depend on the development of Aldridge & Matthews and how healthy Roy and Oden are. That starting lineup is super athletic and Batum would be a starter on half of the NBA teams. The Blazers are not done improving there roster but the core group of players are as talented as any team.
